Administration

Steve Curtis  BRSC General Manager &  Director of Operations and Adult Programming, APlus Tennis

Steve Curtis became  the General Manager of  Burke Racquet & Swim Club in January, 2021.  He remains as the Director of Operations for A Plus Tennis.  Steve is also in his 17th season as  the head coach for the Mason women’s tennis team.  His Mason teams have distinguished  themselves nationally on and off the courts.  His teams have won as many as 21 matches in a season as well as consistently posting the highest scores possible for the Academic Progress Rates as determined by the NCAA which recognizes teams for finising within the top 10% of the country.

Chris first started working at BRSC in 1985, helping at the front desk and assisting with facility maintenance. A few years later he became duty manager and assisted in the club’s business office. In 1996, Chris became business manager of BRSC. His duties include: overseeing the club’s finances, payroll, and billing. He is integral in maintaining the club’s computer system and assists in club mainte

Aquatics & Fitness

Pete Morgan  Head Coach, Nation’s Capital Swim Club
Pete Morgan has been part of the BRSC staff since the inception of the club. In 1985, when the club opened, Pete began his career as Aquatics Director.

He continues to lead the internationally recognized Nation’s Capital Swim Club (NCAP). Pete coached the men’s USA World Championship Team that competed in Fukuoka, Japan, in 2001 and in Shanghai in 2006. In 2014,  He was inducted into the American Swim Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Kim Spina  Aquatic Director

Kim has been the program director for swim lessons at the BRSC since 1991, and was named Aquatics Director in 2002. Because of Kim, our successful lesson program developed into a feeder program for the nationally-ranked Nation’s Capital Swim Club (NCAP).

In 2001, Kim began her professional career as a coach for the Curl Burke Swim Club (now known as NCAP). In recent years, Kim has been the director of our highly regarded Competitive Stroke School, which prepares swimmers for their summer league competitive teams and entry into NCAP.

Jakob Nielsen  Fitness Director and Personal Trainer

As a top collegiate tennis player, Jakob received his bachelor of science in Kinesiology. With this degree and education through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Functional Movement Systems, and the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Jakob develops some of the top athletes in the country, and aids in the progression of all of our members in their health and fitness goals!

Vinh Do’s career includes an extensive track record of training young student-athletes to successfully compete in college programs, developing junior tennis programs in northern Virginia and earning awards for his contributions to the world of tennis.

James Davis  Director of Junior Development, APlus Tennis

A collegiate standout as both a player and a head coach at George Mason University, Jimmy has the versatility to motivate and develop top-level tennis talent. Jimmy is currently the youngest Division 1 tennis coach in the nation.

Steve Hyre  Head Professional, APlus Tennis

Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and energy as a former varsity player for George Mason University. Before joining the A Plus Tennis team, he served as a director in the Junior Program at Fairfax Racquet Club, as well as an instructor for FirstServe Tennis and contracted with FUNdamental Tennis.

Julie Ruamthong  Senior Executive Assistant and BRSC Liaison, APlus Tennis

Julie Ruamthong is the Executive of Administration for APlus Tennis. She graduated from the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville in 2013. While in college, she played for UVA’s Club Tennis Team, taught for UVA’s Intramural Tennis Program, and helped to coach their Junior Team. In addition to teaching at BRSC, Julie also taught Quickstart Tennis at Browne Academy. She is both USPTA and USPTR certified.
