Pete Morgan, General Manager, Head Coach, Nation's Capital Swim Club
Pete Morgan has been part of the BR&SC staff since the planning stages prior to the club construction. When the club opened its doors in 1985, Pete’s title was Aquatic Director. That year, he moved his elite senior team of the nationally ranked Curl Swim Club to Burke from the old Starlit Aquatic Center near Woodson High School.
Named the General Manager of the club in January 2001, Pete has guided the club through many necessary building upgrades early in his tenure. New tennis lighting, new roofs, a new climbing gym, and an ozone generator for the pool are all projects completed in that time. Pete continues to guide the internationally recognized Nation's Capital Swim Club (NCAP), and coached the men’s USA World Championship Team that competed in Fukuoka, Japan in 2001 and Shanghai in 2006. He was inducted into the American Swim Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014.
Chris Pencek, Business Manager
Chris first started working at BR&SC in 1985, helping at the front desk. He would also assist with maintenance during the club’s week-long shutdown at the end of the summer. After college, Chris returned to BR&SC in 1992 to work at the front desk. Later, Chris became a duty manager and assistant in the club’s Business Office. When the Business Manager, Sherry Rhodes, left the club in 1996, Chris became the third Business Manager of Burke Racquet & Swim Club.
Chris’ duties at BR&SC include overseeing the club’s finances, payroll and billing. He also maintains the club’s computer system and assists in club maintenance.
Chris Natoli, Nation's Capital Swim Coach and BRSC Manager
Chris Natoli joined the BRSC and CUBU staff in 2004. Chris graduated with distinction from George Mason University with a degree in Sports Management. Chris swam with GMU and was named “First Team All-Conference” all four years. Chris has been a local swimming community staple with 10 years of summer league coaching under his belt. Chris continues to develop over 50 athletes in the two thriving senior level programs he coaches.
Anne-Margaret Ashley, Membership Director
Our fabulous Director has been with Burke Racquet for over 8 years. She has been in charge of our HR, Front Desk, Summer Camp, Girl Scout relations, Liaison with local schools and now she is in full charge of our marketing and member relations. Kim Spina, Aquatic Director
Kim has been the program director for swim lessons at the Burke Racquet and Swim Club since 1991. Because of Kim our successful lesson program developed into a feeder program for the nationally ranked Nation's Capital Swim Club. In recent years, Kim has been the director of our highly regarded Sunday Stroke and Turn Clinic which prepares swimmers for their summer league competitive teams and entry into the Nation's Capital Swim Club.
In 2001, Kim began her professional coaching career as a coach for the Curl Burke Swim Club (now known as Nation's Capital Swim Club). As a team coach, Kim has successfully led hundreds of children through the Age group ranks, organized successful banquets and fundraisers, and escorted a group of 40 CUBU swimmers on a two week excursion to Australia. In 2002, Kim Spina was named Aquatic Director for the Burke Racquet and Swim Club.
Lynnda Gendron, Fitness Director
Lynnda Gendron has been with the Burke Racquet and Swim Club for over 26 years, and 21 of these as the Fitness Director. Lynnda Gendron has a B.S. Degree in Physical Education, with a dance emphasis. She has been a Post Rehab Conditioning Specialist with the American Academy of Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation Professionals (AAHFRP) since 1997, and is a Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist with the Pink Ribbon Program. Lynnda is Certified with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. She is also a Certified Pilates Resist-A-Ball Instructor. Through the American Aerobic Association International (AAAI) and the International Sports Medicine Association (ISMA), Lynnda is also a Certified Mat Pilates Phase I, II, and III Instructor; Certified Older Adult Fitness Trainer and Child and Teen Fitness Instructor; Breast Cancer Wellness Coach; Certified BOSU and Total Body Strength Conditioning Instructor; a Gliding Fitness Instructor; Certified Advanced Body Bar Instructor; Bender Ball Instructor, and a Holistic Health Consultant. Lynnda is a member of IDEA and AFAA. CPR/AED Certified.
Marcy Gravatt, Group Fitness Director
Marcy Gravatt is a native of Northern Virginia and graduated with a degree in Psychology from George Mason University. She has been the Group Fitness Director at Burke Racquet and Swim Club since 2001. Marcy has been certified to teach aerobics since 1993-first as a Jazzercise Instructor and then through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Marcy teaches a variety of group fitness classes that include: cardio classes, interval classes, muscle conditioning, step, double step classes, stretch and Pilates. Other certifications include Mat Science and Pilates. She is CPR/AED Certified.
Andrea Dullea, Weight Room Manager
Andrea Dullea has been the Weight Room Manager and a personal trainer at the Burke Racquet and Swim Club for over 2 years. She is also a AFAA Certified Personal Trainer and a Senior Fitness Trainer Certified through ASFA. Andrea is a US Tennis Association rated player, and CPR/AED Certified.

Dwight has a B.S. Degree in Physical Education. He is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Dwight is also currently a Physical Education teacher and a Basketball Coach.
He is an Adult League softball and basketball player. CPR/AED Certified.
Bahar Holzemer, Personal Trainer
Bahar has a B.S. Degree in Exercise Science/ Cardiac Rehab. She is a Medical Exercise Specialist with AAHFRP, Certified Massage Therapist with NCBTMB, and a Reiki Master Practioner. Bahar is also a Fitour Certified Water Aerobics Instructor and Stability Ball Instructor. She is currently studying to become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. CPR/AED Certified.
Alfred Thompson, Personal Trainer
Alfred is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA). He is also a Certified YogaFit Instructor, (RYT Teacher). Alfred is a Nationally ranked bodybuilder capturing over 12 championships, and winning the title of “2007 Mr. Virginia”. CPR/AED Certified.

Julie Ruamthong, Senior Executive Assistant & BRSC Liaison, Courtplay Athletics Performance Centers
Julie Ruamthong is the Executive of Administration for Courtplay Athletics Performance Centers. She graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 2013 where she double-majored in Psychology and Spanish. She grew up in the Alexandria, Virginia area where she played tennis for West Potomac High School’s Varsity Team for four years and competed in USTA tournaments. While in college, she played for UVA’s Club Tennis Team, taught for UVA’s Intramural Tennis Program, and helped to coach their Junior Team.
Over the summers, she has been employed with Mount Vernon Athletic Club, teaching and coaching at local recreation associations such as Waynewood, Riverside Gardens and Highland Park. In 2013, she was the head coach at Riverside Gardens. In addition to teaching at BRSC and MTVAC, she also taught Quickstart Tennis at Browne Academy. Julie is both USPTA and USPTR certified.
Fran Bennett, Certified Racquet Technician
Fran started working at Burke Racquet & Swim Club in March of 1988 as a racquet stringer. Using that position as a springboard, she was able to put her degree in Health and Recreation to use when she assumed management of the Weight Room for two years. In her tenure here, Fran has also been the Racquetball Director and Front Desk Manager. Fran is one of only about 700 Master Racquet Technicians in the world. Fran has often stated that she views working here as more fun than work and says the members are what make it fun.
Nancy Vandel is a highly skilled Water Safety Instructor. Her gentle ature makes her a favorite of many of the younger children. She too enjoys traveling, most recently to Eastern Europe. Nancy is craftsman in the world of swimming. Although swimming is an important part of her life, she is also one of the few hospital based educators for Fairfax Hospital. She makes time for us in her busy schedule and we are truly appreciative.
All the massage therapists are nationally and state certified and are members of the American Massage Therapy Association.
Kyori Otsubo - Director
Kyori, CMT, is a graduate of GWIM, Burke VA. She is certified in MyoKinestetic System, Strain Counterstrain Technique, & Pregnancy Massage & is trained in Muscle Release Techniques plus Geriatric, Sports, & Deep-Tissue Massage.
Valerie, CMT, is a nurse and a graduate of AKS in Herndon, Va. She is certified in La Stone Therapy and in Infant Massage. She is also trained in Craniosacral Therapy, Pregnancy Massage, Sports Massage, Myofascial Release Massage and Chair Massage. She integrates Deep Tissue, Connective Tissue and Trigger Point Massage into her sessions. Valerie is the Director of the Massage Program at BRSC.
Farhad, CMT, is a graduate of GWIM, Burke, VA. He is trained in Swedish, Deep-Tissue, & Sports Massage, plus Muscle Tissue Release, Controlled Stretching Techniques, Trigger Point, Prenatal, & Reflexology.
Bahar, CMT, is a graduate of NVCC massage therapy program. She is trained in sports, pregnancy, swedish and deep tissue massage, trigger point, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), and Active isolated Stretching (AIS). She has a Bachelors degree in exercise science and is currently getting her Medical Exercise Specialist certification thru AAHFRP.
Gordon, CMT, is a graduate of PMTI in Washington, DC. He has over 20 years of experience as a massage therapist and offers sessions in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Triger Point Therapy and Chair Massage.
